Jay Jesmain

Jay Jesmain joined the HindlePower team almost five years ago, utilizing his electrical education from Lincoln Technical School.  Jay’s career began as an Electrical Technician in the Test Department.  Those responsibilities included testing, evaluating, inspecting, and all other processes needed to assure all products were in compliance with IEEE standards.  Most recently, Jay has taken a position with our Design/Engineering Department assisting with custom CAD drawings.  With the wealth of knowledge and experience he gained while working in the Test Department, Jay is also an asset with technical support, field service, technical training, and even customer service.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I have been with HindlePower since January of 2005.  I was looking for a "career" not just another job.  I wanted to work in an environment where you are important and what your thoughts mattered.  I started as a Test Technician.  Because of my hard work, other positions opened up that I took advantage of.  Currently you can find me doing CAD drawings, testing chargers, field service, technical support, helping out our engineering department, and heading up our newest and most exciting product line the EPIC Series Consoles.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Rewards come in many ways at HindlePower.  I have always loved electronics and making things work.  I have never considered this to be a "job", knowing that at the end of the day I have tested a battery charger that will leave here and end up somewhere in America, keeping lights on in someone's house.  I know that when our customers call HindlePower with a question or concern, they know that they are important and their concerns and questions are answered.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Assisting a customer through a phone call, without being able to "see and touch" the problem, can be challenging.  I have to rely on my education and experience to make sure the job gets done correctly and efficiently.

What do you like best about HindlePower?

I have never worked for a company that has so much integrity and compassion.  There are no "numbers" here when it comes to employees.  Everyone is treated as individuals, with their own thoughts and feelings.  During my career at HindlePower, I learned that if you work hard and put all your effort into doing a great job, you will be rewarded.  Mistakes are looked upon as an opportunity to learn.  I also get to travel the country on field service calls and see places that I normally would not have the opportunity to visit.  The teamwork attitude here is unstoppable.  I have made great friendships at HindlePower and know that I can trust the person beside me.  I have been given the freedom to develop a new product.  To have earned the trust and respect of my boss Bill Hindle is amazing.

Tell us a little about your family.

I recently became married on May 9th, 2009 to a beautiful woman, Lauren.  We have two children named Gabriella and Tyler.  We have busy schedules, with my son being a proud Boy Scout of America.  My daughter is more active then the Energizer Bunny.

Tell us a little about your hobbies.

My hobbies are of course, anything to do with electronics.  I am a active member in my son's scout troop. I have recently taken up hunting, and try to go fishing when time allows.  When there really is nothing to do you can usually find me toying with one of my many video game systems.

Nick Dzomic (pronounced ZOH-mick)

Nick is the HindlePower Quality Manager.  By definition he touches all bases of our organization from the front end of sales, to shipping of product, and all steps in between.  He is in charge of employee training and is the final word on whether a unit may leave the building...quite a responsibility.  Nick certainly steers the ship when it comes to the  HindlePower quality policy.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I started my career in April of 1998 as a test technician.  My constant desire to learn more and grow on a professional level has led me to move to different positions in the company, including field service support and technical support.  I am constantly striving for ways to improve which is why I have moved into the position of Quality Manager.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

In my current position I conduct internal training, with the production team and external training, with end users.  It is very rewarding to me to share my knowledge and experience with my co-workers and the customers.  Knowing that I may have made someone’s job a little easier and more rewarding is a very good feeling.

What do you like best about HindlePower?

There are many things I love about working for HindlePower.  Working for Bill Hindle, who truly values his employees and treats them like an extended family would have to be the best part.

Tell us a little about your family.

Next month my wife Shelly and I will have been married for seven wonderful years.  We have two beautiful children.  Kayla is 6 and Nicholas is 5.

Tell us a little about your hobbies.

When I’m not enjoying my family I enjoy any outdoor nature activity; such as hunting and fishing.  I’m also a handy person and enjoy rebuilding cars or building go karts.

Jesse Miller

Jesse Miller heads our Magnetics Department, where he leads a team of nine employees who build and test power isolation transformers and filtering inductors, which are the largest and some of the most crucial components in our industrial battery chargers.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I started at HindlePower on August 24th, 2004.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I would have to say helping people grow and become better people themselves, and getting to know and care for the people around you.  Unlike many other places I have been to, HindlePower is like a giant family, where at any time people are there for you as you are for them.  Whether it be a work issue or not, I can rely on everyone to help and try their hardest to be there for me.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

As the head of the Magnetics Department, which is a group of smaller areas including winding, stacking, welding, test, and hook-up, it is most challenging to keep track of all processes and people in each area.  On any given day, a different problem may surface in an area and I must "put that hat on" and remember what problem to solve and how to do it, keeping safety and quality of the product in mind.

Tell us a little about your family.

My wife of five years Angela is currently nine months pregnant with our second son Lucas.  Our first son Austin has just turned three, and is ready to be a big brother.

Tell us a little about your hobbies.

Like many people, I love the computer and computer games.  Besides that, I love playing and watching tennis, and golf when I can.

In Closing...

What is this infamous Star Award Jesse spoke about you may ask?  Every December, the HindlePower staff nominates fellow employees for several categories in an entertaining awards program.  Recipients are announced at our Holiday Party, and given a starred icon like you see to the right.  Speeches are made and a great time is had by all.  Jesse has been the recipient of no less than three Star Awards over the years.  In 2005 he was awarded Unsung Hero, in 2007 he was acknowledged for Exceptional Merit, and in 2008 he was praised for his Can-Do Attitude.  Great job Jesse!

Mark Wilson

Mark Wilson works in the Magnetics Department, where he stacks cores and winds power isolation transformers and filtering inductors, which are the largest and some of the most crucial components in our industrial battery chargers.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I have been at HindlePower for four years in the Magnetics Department.  Before working here, I don't think I had any direction.  Working for HindlePower has taught me to work as a team and how to interact with people.  It has taught me how to be responsible and has basically steered me in a direction that better suits me as a person.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

HindlePower employees have respect and compassion for each other and it has made my working experience enjoyable.  Here we are driven to be successful.  We work as a team to not only do our jobs and do them well, but also to make HindlePower our home away from home.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

HindlePower has been very busy and I work a lot of overtime, leaving little time to get things done in my personal life.

What do you like best about HindlePower?

HindlePower inspires me to push forward and give back to a company that has given me so much.  I love my job and don't plan on leaving anytime soon, because I have the privilege of working for one of the best companies anyone could ever work for.  I can honestly say that it keeps getting better.

Tell us a little about your family.

My Mom is one of the hardest working people that I know.

Tell us a little about your hobbies.

I love to write, paint, play music, go fishing, drive my jeep, play pool, and cook.

Virginia A. Jones

Ginny Jones is the head of the Stock Department, where she oversees the influx of raw materials we receive and handle, which ultimately become industrial battery chargers.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I started with HindlePower in 1993, which was then HITRAN back in Flemington, NJ.  I began building the old AT10 product line, and after seven years (with the 2000 split to HindlePower in Easton), I was asked to go to the stock room and head inventory control.  I am currently providing assistance to the Purchasing Department as well.  Prior to working at HindlePower, I worked at various different places in customer service and inside sales, but never stayed anywhere long.  I never felt content.  With HindlePower, I feel like I am part of a large family and consider this my second home.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

It is when you know a customer is in need of a charger, and you are able to get all the necessary material here to get that unit out right away.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

It is trying to keep track of material for seven different areas in the plant, and projecting into the future so that we can make sure everybody has what is needed to get their jobs done.

What do you like best about HindlePower?

There are a lot of things that I would consider to be the best.  The one at the top of the list would have to be the way my co-workers pull together in a time of need.  Whether it is a customer with a crisis, or a co-worker with a crisis, everybody pulls together to help out.  There are co-workers who never built a battery charger, but if the customer is in dire need, they will pitch in any way they can.  An employee had a fire and everyone pitched in with clothes, food, toys, furniture, and money.  No matter what the emergency is, everyone jumps onboard.

Tell us a little about your family.

In May, I will be married 32 years.  I have three grown children and four grandchildren.  All three of my children worked at HindlePower at some time.  Two moved on to different careers.  My oldest daughter (Dawn Cavanaugh) is currently working at HindlePower.  My husband is a truck driver and hopes to retire next year.

Tell us a little about your hobbies.

Between working and a live-in grandchild that I watch after work, there isn’t much time for hobbies.  When I have time I like to read, play on my computer, do jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Robert D. Beck

Bob Beck is the Head of Engineering at HindlePower.  In addition to providing leadership for the design department, he is a skilled engineer, holding a BS EE degree from Penn State University.  Whether it is designing printed circuit boards, or working through output ripple data from our product, Bob is an invaluable asset to the HindlePower staff.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I joined the HindlePower Team in November of 2006.  Prior to joining HindlePower I worked for thirteen years as a design engineer at a company that designed and manufactured utility grade meters and controls.  Before that I spent a few years working for a company that designed and manufactured dimming and lighting control systems.  Both companies were small to mid-sized and manufactured product on site.  Having previously designed products for the same customer base and harsh substation environment, HindlePower was a great fit for me.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I would have to say the feedback from my peers and our customers.  There is no better reward than the feeling you share with your peers after any team accomplishment.  Feedback from satisfied customers that go the extra mile to comment on our service and product makes my day, and makes one proud to be a member of the HindlePower team.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

To balance the integration of new technology and enhancements to our products without compromising how easy they are to use.  Our sales and marketing team, along with our customers, are continuously learning about, and pondering new applications.  Providing a high-quality, smart, standard product line that is flexible, reliable, simple to setup, yet still rich in capabilities and features, is most challenging.  Luckily, this responsibility is shared by everyone on the HindlePower team from the person taking the order to the person shipping the product.

What do you like best about HindlePower?

That’s not quite a fair question to ask me, to pick what I like “best”...for there are too many possibilities.  To sum it up, I would have to say the people, the culture, and the work atmosphere.  If I had to pick one thing, I guess I would have to say to be able to get up in the morning, enjoy going to work, and then feeling good about your day once you return home.

Tell us a little about your family.

My lovely wife Lisa and I celebrated our 20th anniversary last May.  We met while attending Penn State and married shortly after graduation.  We are blessed with three great kids, Austin, Jacob and Samantha.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

If I’m not attending one of the kids sporting events or school functions and the weather is nice, I can usually be found kicking back and throwing horseshoes with some of my neighbors.  Horseshoes in winter isn’t always a good combination in Pennsylvania so we switch to quoits and poker which can be played inside.  We have been known to get a few games of ‘shoes’ in on some warm winter days, I recall playing the first game of the year on New Year’s Day once!

Michael Rupprecht

Mike is a member of the Engineering Department, where he wears several hats.  For years, Mike has been the sole source for creating customer battery chargers drawings.  He now has some help, and is expanding his work in the areas of document and data control.  Michael maintains our operating manuals, and approves all custom work entered into our system, ensuring bills of material are accurate and instructions to production are sufficiently written.  Michael also maintains the HindlePower web site that you are now reading.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I began working for Bill Hindle back at HITRAN in July of 1997, so more than eleven years.  At the time, I was coming off of another design job where my co-workers did not seem interested in fostering my talents.  When I started in Flemington, I knew nothing about industrial battery chargers.  However, my co-workers Bill Bennett, Carlos Infante and Matt Theriault, as well as my boss Bill Hindle, all did a spectacular job in helping me understand the product we build and the business we are in.  More than that, they allowed and encouraged me to do more for the company than my original job description called for.  It's great to reflect on how far our current organization has come since the days of the Power Systems division back at Hitran.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I think most of us have a need to matter in life one way or another.  Many find that calling with family, or church, or community service, or even national service.  Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to design and build something that wasn't there before me.  Every day, I get to make that childhood dream come true.  A few years ago Bill Hindle asked me this very same question, "What is the most rewarding part of your job?"  My answer was the camaraderie.  Bill has an invaluable ability to find great people.  More important than that, he has created a culture here at HindlePower that helps people find their greatness.  The most rewarding part of my job is being able to use whatever talents I may have to help make our collective lives a little bit better.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

The most challenging part of my job is discovering what I can do for our organization before we realize we need it, and make it happen before someone has to ask me to do it.  Technology, information, and our world in general are all evolving at an incredible pace.  For our products and services to remain viable, we need to know what new tools and pieces of information will help our customers support those products.  These support mechanisms have changed drastically in the last eleven years that I have worked in this industry.  Likewise, tools and information created by the Engineering Department to support the Production team are equally important.  We need to embrace new concepts and understand today, how we will be building our chargers five years from now.  We need to be ahead of the curve in these areas, and that challenges us all.

What do you like best about HindlePower?

I treasure working for a company whose end product and services actually make people's lives better.  To sum this up in a simple statement,"we help keep the lights on".  So many of America's manufacturing jobs are being sent overseas.  I feel great pride in working for a company here in the Lehigh Valley that still builds something, builds it well, and in the process, provides livelihoods for a great collection of hard working people.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

My New Years resolution for 2000 was to learn partner swing dancing.  After struggling for a few months, it became quite the obsession for me.  I now go out dancing one to three nights a week.  It's something I wanted to do ever since I was a child, growing up watching old movies from the '30s and '40s.  I also am a self-taught film student, and enjoy watching and critiquing all types of movies.  My favorite genre is the wave of anti-hero films of the late 1960s to early 1970s.  I took my hobby to a larger level, by designing and building a high definition home theater in my basement last December.  It is quite the hit with my sister and friends.

Deborah Behler

Debbie is in our Sales & Marketing Department where she manages all aspects of Customer Service.  Debbie took some time out of her busy day to answer a few questions.

How long have you been employed by HindlePower?

I've been with HindlePower for 8 years.  I began as a temporary employee in the order entry department.  After working for a large corporation for 11 years, it was a welcome change to work for a company where everyone knows your name and values your opinion.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

So many things are rewarding to me working at HindlePower.  Bill Hindle has encouraged me to grow more than I ever thought possible!  Believe it or not, I was a very shy, timid person when I started at HindlePower. Recently, I began helping other co-workers recognize their potential by sharing ongoing positive feedback.  Each week, I take an employee to lunch to talk about their value within the HindlePower organization.  I enjoy getting to know our employees on a personal and professional level.  The most rewarding part of my job is making someone else feel good about themselves.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

I have many responsibilities at HindlePower.  Sometimes managing competing priorities can be a challenge.  I always want my focus to be on maintaining customer loyalty and providing the best service possible.

What do you like best about HindlePower?

I love working for a small company with all the personal touches.  HindlePower continues to do a wonderful job maintaining strong business ethics.

Tell us a little about your family.

In May 2009 I will celebrate 25 years of marriage to my high school 'sweetheart' Ron.  My daughter Ashley is 22 years of age.  She works full-time and attends college pursuing a degree as a veterinarian RN.  My son Brian is 19.  He is a sophomore in college and has yet to decide what career path he will follow.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I love to spend time with my family.  I enjoy the outdoors; camping, fishing, boating, swimming, and biking.

More To Come...

In the months ahead, we will continue to feature members of the HindlePower team, both from the office the manufacturing plant.  Whether you are an existing customer or a potential employee, we feel this page will help you familiarize yourself with the people that make the difference in our products and services.  HindlePower has a rich history and an even more exciting future.  Our embraced Operational Guidelines give us direction, creating a culture that reflects who we are.  We hope you come back to this page soon to learn more about us.
